Vinc

Search by meaning, not just words.

Type what you mean. Vinc matches ideas as well as exact words, and groups the results by topic. Leave the box empty to browse every document instead.

Which build searches which way. Keyword search over the full text runs everywhere, including the packaged desktop app with no network. Meaning search runs on your account graph, which is what the web app and a connected assistant read, so it covers the topics you chose to sync. The packaged desktop app does not ship the embedding stack, so on your machine alone the results are keyword matches.

How it finds things

Vinc searches two ways at once and combines the results.

The mark to the left of each result says how it matched. is meaning, is keyword, ≈≡ is both.

Narrowing it down

From a result to View

Clicking a result lands you on that node. It used to send you back to the first screen; now you continue from what you found. From there the View controls all work as usual.

If results are slow to appear

Meaning search relies on an index that turns documents into vectors, and that index is built on your account graph. A document you just synced may still be getting indexed, and until then only keyword search will match it. Search again a moment later and the meaning matches come with it.
