The offline app collects nothing. The optional hosted account stores only what you choose to sync.

Working draft, published for transparency. It describes what the software actually does today; wording is being finalised. Questions: support@vincs.io.
Two ways to use Vinc
1 · The desktop app: offline, no account
The installed Vinc app runs entirely on your machine. It has no account, no sign-up, and works with no network. Your documents and knowledge graph stay in a local folder on your device. We do not receive, see, or store any of it. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no telemetry in the app.
2 · The hosted account, optional: for sync and the web
If you create a web account at vincs.io and connect an assistant, a copy of the knowledge you choose to sync is stored on our server, so it is available from other devices and from the web even when your laptop is off. This is opt-in and scoped: only the topics you explicitly select are uploaded. Anything you don't select never leaves your device.
What the account stores
- Account record: your email address, an internal ID, your plan (free or pro), and account timestamps.
- Sign-in and keys: we use magic links, so we never store a password. Session tokens and connector keys (
vinc_sk_…) are stored only as one-way hashes. The originals exist only on your device. - Hosted knowledge graph: the concepts, documents and episodes from the topics you chose to sync. This is isolated per member. No other account can read it.
- Email preferences: whether you opted in to release announcements (double opt-in), and delivery-suppression records for bounced or complained addresses.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no analytics or tracking pixels, no selling or sharing of your data.
- Your local files and documents are never uploaded. The app processes them on your device, and a connected assistant only ever sees the results of the specific tools it calls.
- Members' graphs are never mixed or exposed to each other.
Who else is involved
Email delivery (magic links, announcements) is handled by Resend, our email provider, which processes your address to send that mail. Account data lives in our own database on our infrastructure. That is the extent of third-party processing.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Delete your account yourself at vincs.io/account, Delete account. This removes your account record, sessions, connector keys, and newsletter subscription.
- Hosted graph deletion: deleting your account also erases your hosted knowledge graph. Our account service and the sync server deliberately share no database, so the deletion is carried across by a cryptographically signed request that removes everything stored under your account: every concept, document and episode. If that erase can't be confirmed, your account is not deleted (it is held and can be retried), so nothing is ever left behind.
- Expired sign-in and session tokens are purged automatically.
- You stay in control of what syncs: unselected topics are never uploaded, so the simplest way to keep something private is not to sync its topic.
