Using the app

Settings

Press Settings at the bottom of the sidebar to open the Settings window. Pick a category on the left and its contents appear on the right. Close it with ✕, Escape, or a click outside the window.

Settings in the web app has no AI connections or Advanced. These captures use a sample demo of the desktop screen, showing sample account and storage state.

General · appearance

  1. Categories The Settings categories. Press one to change what shows on the right.
  2. Theme Choose Light, Dark or System. System follows this device.
  3. Language Choose 한국어 or English. Changing it reloads the app right away, so save anything you are editing first.
  4. Build version The version of Vinc running now. Include it when you report a problem.

Reading · View

  1. Document pane width Sets the width of the pane documents open in, in px. Dragging the grip beside the View changes this value too.
  2. Open View display options Closes Settings and opens the View's display settings. Size, spread, labels and the legend are changed there.

What the view card holds is on The graph.

Account · storage

In the web app it shows the account you are signed in with and the space you are working in.

  1. Connect account The sample demo has no connected account. On the desktop, this button starts browser sign-in.
  2. Storage location The sample demo shows local storage state. It is not this device's actual folder or account.

In the desktop app this tab holds two more things.

AI connections (desktop)

This is where you register AI assistants so they can read and write Vinc.

How to hand work to an assistant is on Using AI.

Data

It has three tabs: Create, Import and Share. Create and Import are on Putting knowledge in, and Share is on Sharing.

GRAPH.md

Edit the file your assistant reads before it writes, and approve the vocabulary it proposes. It is on Edit GRAPH.md.

Advanced (desktop)

Change these only if you run your own engine or paste a key by hand.

The desktop app does not read VINC_API_KEY. That environment variable is for the CLI; setting it does not sign you in to the app. If 0.9.6 keeps waiting after browser sign-in, see the first sign-in guidance.
